Ask useful questions
Choose a question word for the information you need.
What asks about content, where about place, when about time, why about reasons, and how about method or condition. Decide what information is missing. Where is the library? and When does it open? solve different problems.
Many present-simple questions use do or does: What do you read? What does she read? After does, read stays in its base form. With be, change the order: Is the library open? Do is not needed there.
Ask one clear question at a time. Location, time, and suitability can be separate questions. After receiving an answer, check that it supplies the missing information. Length does not guarantee relevance.
Make your understanding visible
Ask where a book club meets, when it starts, and whether you need a book.
Compare with a reference response
Where is the meeting? What time does it start? Do I need to bring a book? Other clear formulations are also acceptable.
