Read a short text
Find a main idea and the details supporting it.
Read this original text: Our club meets every Saturday. We read a short article and discuss one question. New members can listen before they speak. You do not need perfect English to join. First ask what the paragraph is about; then find time, activities, and entry conditions.
A main idea is that the reading club welcomes developing English users. Saturday is a detail. Listening before speaking describes participation. The final sentence does not promise that every newcomer will understand everything.
Use context to form a provisional guess about an unfamiliar word, then check a reliable dictionary. Close the text, write a main idea and two details, and reopen it to verify. Do not substitute your hopes for what the text says.
Make your understanding visible
Can you conclude that the club is free? Explain from the text.
Compare with a reference response
No. The text says perfect English is unnecessary, but says nothing about fees. Ask Is there a fee? The task checks the limits of the information.
